The Hope and Friendship group arranged to have a mobile Feed My Starving Children here in Lemont at the Township building. Our Church couldn't get any large blocks of time to work together so just a few of us were there yesterday afternoon. Others will be working today and Saturday. This is such a worthwhile charity. They showed us a picture of an eight year old boy weighing 18 pounds, just so sad, you can see all of his bones. Then they showed a picture of him after a few weeks of eating the food and you could already see an improvement and you should see him after a year. Wow! The food is measured out and sealed in bags, then packed in boxes that are then put on skids. The skids are sent to missionaries in third world countries and they dole out the food. The food consists of a chicken flavoring, dried vegetables, a protein and rice. It is strictly vegetarian. I was able to taste it when I volunteered in Aurora; it tasted like Rice-a roni, not bad. If you ever get the opportunity to volunteer, take it. Below is a picture of my sister, Lee, scooping out the chicken flavor and veggies.
