Some Questions Answered

I went to the radiation oncologist today and she answered a few questions I had. Why am I still so tired? She said that the tiredness will last a couple of months and will gradually lessen. I was glad to hear that and that it's not my old age setting in. The other question I had was about having shooting pains in and around the incisions. She said that was my nerve endings healing and that this could last up to two years. I was glad to hear that it is normal and would eventually go away. So if you see me gritting my teeth in pain, you'll know why. She also told me that my radiation burns were healing nicely. I am to have a mammo in May and then after that every six months for a couple of years. I wasn't glad to hear that.

Wood Show

The wood show was great. Lots of neat woodcarvings and turnings. I got in a new supply of wood so I'm ready to go. I'd  say it was a pretty successful show being the first one.  The next show will be in April in Portage Indiana.
Then we went to Portillo's for a good old Chicago style hot dog. That place sure does a nice business.Then we went to Charlestowne Mall which has Carsons, Sears and Von Maur as their anchor stores. It seems like the rest of the mall is mostly shuttered. What a shame.

Busy

Boy, I've been busy all week and have nothing to write about. Just meetings at Church, woodcarving and free lunches(3 this past week). Today is a wood show out at Pheasant Run in St. Charles. It's not just a carvers show but a wood show with carvers, and turners, vendors, etc. It's the first one that is being put on so don't know what to expect.
We had about another inch of snow last night. Not worried about shoveling, what Gods puts down, God will take away. It is supposed to rain tomorrow which will melt the snow and it all comes from God.

Quilting

These pictures are from our Cut and Sew Group get together on Tuesday. Some of the quilts that we have made. When we have enough [maybe a dozen] we will display them in Church and then take them to a woman's shelter in Joliet. Most of the quilts are twin size. We also had some ladies sewing bias tape on towels to make adult bibs, we have 10 of those made already and still more towels to work on. The bibs will go to the Voice of Care, a group that deals with handicapped adults. I think our group is doing well since we only meet once a month.

Celebration

I had a real nice celebration lunch at Front Street Cantina in Lemont. Karrie, Katie, and Billie and her daughter, Meila came from Rochelle, Malta, and DeKalb. Lee and Samantha were also there. We had a fun time and the food was quite good although I've had better Margharitas. Then Nikki and her son Cooper met us at my house, what a happy baby.

The Last Treatment!

Today is my last treatment. Now I can get my life back after almost 7 weeks of treatments. My skin is starting to heal and itch. I see the regular oncologist on Friday for the next step. I have to bake a cake to celebrate at woodcarving tomorrow.

It's Friday

I have the weekend off, only three more treatments to go. Yeah.

Thought I would share a  couple of pictures of the boys [Brad and Tom] doing my driveway. They did only half the driveway, enough to get my car in and out. I was going to go out today to clear the dryer vent, but the snow is over three feet tall and  5 feet wide. I'll just hope that the heat from the dryer will melt a hole in the snow so it could vent properly.

It is almost 9:00 am and still snowing, but not as windy as last night. Much of Lemont is without power, so far I am lucky. Had the power go out four times last night , but it came right back on. Hopefully sometime today Brad and Tom will come and dig out my driveway. They have been without power since early evening. The difference between 1967 and 2011 is that I was home during the storm and not trying to get home from work on the Illinois Central.
