I have parked across the street from Church for the past five years. This was known as Audrey's spot. Today I got a parking ticket for parking in a handicap spot: $350. There is a sign but it has always been assumed it was for the parking place in front of where I parked as the curb was painted blue. The curb is grey where I parked. I took pictures and went to the police department to no avail; then to the village hall to see if I could get the municipal code for handicap parking signage and markings. While I was speaking to someone from the village, out from the back office popped a friend. Mark who also goes to St. Matthew came out and said that the sign is not facing the right way and that he would let the adjudicator know that my ticket should be tossed. So I will have to appear in the Lemont Police Department in April to get my ticket thrown out.
Yesterday my sister wanted someone to walk with her down to the end of her block, so after she twisted my arm I went over there yesterday afternoon. Instead of walking on her block, she wanted to go to Target to buy some tops that wouldn't bother her incision. So she got in the back seat (driving Miss Daisy)with her heart pillow and buckled in. She can't sit in the front seat in case an air bag would go off and hit her chest. So we walked around Target and even went to Kohls. Today she knows that that is the limit. She was pooped when she got home.
