2010 Sausage Fest

Here is one hundred pounds of pork butt cut up in chunks ready for seasoning.

Here is the official photographer, Samantha taking pictures step by step
Seasoning the meat. We use salt, pepper, marjoram, sugar and of course, garlic. We mince the garlic and then mash it with sugar so the garlic flavor is spread over all of the meat. Then we add water and mix it all up, with our hands

Here are brothers, Bob and Bruce and Lee grinding and stuffing the sausage.

So what is so funny you three? That's the other brother Billy.

Here is Ryan, Karrie and Lee stufffing the casings.

It's sausage!
A fun day with family.

Its Friday

Yesterday was woodcarving class. I'm still working on the tiger head. When my arms get tired of hogging out wood on the tiger, I switch to the small clown. Keith said I could use a saw on the tiger, but being a purist, I choose to take out the excess wood with a gouge. I love the feel and sound of wood being cut.

I did payroll today instead of tomorrow because Karrie, Lee and I are going to Indiana to make polish sausage for Easter. I should have pictures of the process. The power just went out about 10 minutes ago as I was typing this, thankfully what I typed was saved so I am just editing. ComEd is working across the street in my neighbor's yard, so they were close by to fix it.

Tuesday

Here are the boys, Garth and Ruger playing. One has to keep an eye on them because Garth could squash the little one.

Ruger tired out Garth.

Ruger looks guilty, but we didn't find anything wrong.

Karrie and Ruger.

Paid the bills from Church this morning. I am so glad I finally took the plunge and started to pay my own bills on line, sure makes things a lot easier.
The snow was mostly all gone until yesterday when we had some snow showers, ground is now covered with snow again.

Chicken Soup

I'm feeling somewhat better today, but still stuffed up. I made a pot of chicken soup yesterday to help things along. Today is our LWML meeting and since I'm the treasurer, I must go. Thankfully my report is pretty much up to date.

Sunday

Not going to Church today. I have a nasty cold and I would just be spreading it to the congregation. I do have some pictures of the dogs from yesterday, but don't feel like uploading and downloading, so maybe tomorrow. Achoo!

Happy Birthday Karrie!

Today is my daughter's birthday. She is coming over for lunch and bringing her 2 dogs, Garth and Ruger. I'll have to make my house puppy proof and pick the plants up off the floor so Garth isn't tempted.

Friday

Sure glad I took that PB&J sandwich to the meeting yesterday, it helped ease the hunger pains. The meeting ended at 6:30 and I walked upstairs after that to Praise team practice.
Today I will be taking a tater tot casserole over to a family whose mother broke her leg and is in a wheel chair. People from church are bringing food over there every other day. They do have a son who does some cooking. I'm also bringing her a quilt made by one of our LWML members. It is more of a lap robe to keep her legs and feet warm.
