Haircut

Over the weekend I received an email from the Hair Cuttery asking if I was having a bad hair day. The day that I received the email, my hair didn't look too bad. Yesterday is when the bad hair hit so I did make an appointment. So today I will have a good hair day. Hooray!

Sunday Morning

As I was driving to Church this morning the sun was just hitting the snow that made it look like 100's of diamonds were twinkling. God is truly an artist.
Today I will just hang around the house, cook some "winter" barbecue ribs and try to think of what my next carving project will be. I'm sort of leaning towards a clown. Maybe I'll just try a small one first. He will be a happy clown with fuzzy red hair and a tiny little hat on his head. Still haven't figured out how he will be standing. Holding balloons?, one foot in the air?, hands on hips?, legs crossed?; oh I'll come up with something.

Good News

The family that experienced the fire and loss of their home and all of their belongings are moving into our vacant parsonage today. The insurance company will pay the rent to the Church. The outpouring of clothes has been phenomenal. The gym has been the place where people can drop off stuff. They have plenty of children's clothes.
Today the family is getting together for Christmas again. My niece and her husband and four girls couldn't make it to my house for Christmas, so we are going there to give gifts to the girls. Merry Christmas.

God's Message?

This picture was taken of the rubble left after the fire in the house of one of our Church family.

The House is Drab

Karrie, Ryan and Garth came over yesterday to help take the Christmas decorations down. The tree in the yard is definitely frozen. Will have to wait for a thaw to take it down. I don't know what happened, but I wound up with a bunch of stuff not fitting in the totes. So off to Target to buy another one.
Garth got a bone in his stocking and chewed it up in no time at all. I'm glad he is a gentle giant.
Here is Ryan with Garth and me. I think I am a little taller than Garth.

A Sad Event

It is a very sad day today. The house of a young couple from church burned down today. She was in Church with the three little ones and he was at home. The fire started with a space heater and spread rapidly. The dad managed to get out with their two dogs. The house is completely destroyed, but they do have insurance. They will be staying with the husbands folks who are also members. The dad, an electrician has been out of work for over a year. We got together this morning and set up groups of people to go shopping for the kids underwear and socks, toiletries and diapers, dog food and to replace some of the toys that the little girls got for Christmas. Some people ran home and packed up clothes for the girls. Pastor did not do the late service so he could be with the family. Santos, a man of our congregation filled in for him and did a fine job. Instead of a sermon we sang Christmas hymns.
We also have a woman coming home from the hospital after fracturing her leg. Her husband and son are invalids. So there is a call out to supply some meals for them.
If one thinks that their life is bad, just look around and there are people who are suffering 10+ fold. Please pray for these families.

BRR!

Quite chilly out there, single digits. I'm just hunkering down and keeping warm. Yesterday I straightened out the shelves that have all of my carving painting and gourding things. I think today I will do the China cabinet. Then this weekend, it will be time to take down the Christmas decorations. I think the tree I have in the middle of the front lawn might be difficult to remove because of the frozen ground.
