What Makes You Smile?

I was driving through the parking lot of the local Jewel and the Salvation Army guy was ringing his bell and dancing. As I drove by he waved, and I smiled and I gave him a thumbs up. Christmas cheer, that's what makes me smile.

That's cool Audrey. I was disgusted yesterday with feelings of commercialism and later reminded myself it's not about materialistic gifts. It's about the goodness in people coming through. With the reminder that God sent us the most important gift. And He didn't BUY it. Thanks for sharing. That was a great Santa.

What a nice encounter, Audrey. You know, the other day when I was in the meat dept in Jewel, a lady had summonded the butcher from behind the counter and was looking for a certain package of chicken. He was trying to help and she said to him "I want "blah, blah, blah Perdue - Well do you have it or don't you!" She was very rude. He kept smiling and looking. She grabbed something and stomped away. We looked at each other; I made a face; he was silent and still smiled; and I just said "have a nice day now." What a Christmas spirit, huh!?

Oh, but anyway I was glad to have that eye contact with him and be sympathetic and maybe that helped. It was a good reminder to just be nice to people.
